Janitor

Job Title: Janitor (Night)

Job Summary:

Support overnight custodial operations by performing routine cleaning tasks in designated FLETC Charleston and Naval Weapons Station facilities (including the main campus and Naval Weapons Stations (NWS)). As a LAUKOA Night Janitor, you will ensure training, housing, and administrative areas remain clean, sanitary, and ready for next-day use.

Location: Charleston, SC

Responsibilities:

  • Perform scheduled daily cleaning tasks including:

    • Routine Cleaning/Disinfecting: entrance mats, emptying waste containers, cleaning venetian blinds, dusting (low and high)

    • Floor Care: Sweep/Dust/Mop floors, damp mop, vacuum carpet/rugs, spot clean carpets

    • Restroom Cleaning/Disinfecting: Clean walls/partitions, clean/disinfect urinals/commodes, clean mirrors, clean/disinfect sinks/lavatories, clean/disinfect floors, service dispensers (soap, hand sanitizer, tissue, towels)

    • Glass Cleaning: Entrance doors, interior glass, exterior glass

    • Exterior Cleaning: Policing grounds

    • Floor waxing/carpet cleaning per PWS requirements, if assigned

  • NWS, Mat rooms, and bldg. 61 are scheduled to be cleaned at night per the PWS.

    • NWS would require driving company vehicles between this site and the main FLETC campus.

  • Follow PWS standards for cleanliness and sanitation as outlined in Section C-5.A and the Cleaning Matrix.

  • Maintain cleanliness of classrooms, offices, dormitories, and public spaces during night hours.

  • Report any maintenance issues, safety concerns, or supply shortages to night lead or supervisor.

  • Use and maintain cleaning tools and chemicals according to safety protocols.

  • Support emergency or unplanned cleaning tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

  • At least 6 months of experience in janitorial or custodial work, preferably in a government, educational, or institutional setting.

  • Ability to follow detailed cleaning instructions and safety practices.

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs and perform physical cleaning tasks for extended periods.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be eligible for DHS background investigation and suitability clearance.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident with work authorization.

  • This position may require the operation of Company-provided vehicles.

    • If operating Company-provided vehicles, maintaining a valid driver’s license in good standing is a condition of employment.

    • If operating Company-provided vehicles, employee must comply with all Company vehicle use and safety policies, as well as all applicable traffic laws.

    • If operating Company-provided vehicles, the Company may review your motor vehicle record (MVR), as permitted by law, to verify eligibility to operate Company vehicles.

    • If operating Company-provided vehicles, you must immediately notify the Company if your driver’s license is suspended, revoked, restricted, expires, or if your driving privileges otherwise change.

  • Willing to work the following schedule:

    • Monday – Friday: 1600-0000 (straight 8 schedule)

    • Work schedules are determined by management and may be modified at any time based on business needs, contractual obligations, and operational requirements.

Salary: $17.75 per hour + H&W $5.09 per hour = $22.84 per hour
