Dental Assistant (Part-Time)

SUMMARY:

LAUKOA is currently seeking applicants for Dental Assistant positions located throughout the state of Minnesota in support of Medical Readiness Services for the Minnesota Army National Guard (MNARNG). Services will be performed in mobile and portable treatment environments at the client’s location of choice throughout Minnesota. Work is primarily on weekends, with occasional work on weekdays, and all work is performed on a part-time, “as needed” basis to support Soldier medical and dental readiness requirements. LAUKOA provides health readiness services to help maintain a deployable military force for the MNARNG.

LOCATION: Various throughout Minnesota

HOURLY WAGE: $32.00

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support sterilization, infection prevention, and biohazard control procedures in clinical treatment areas.
  • Assist dentists with dental documentation and Service member dental readiness processing activities.
  • Prepare and maintain mobile or portable dental treatment areas and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA bloodborne pathogen standards and PPE requirements.
  • Provide digital x-rays (Bitewings, Periapicals, and Panographs)
  • Complete event setup, teardown, and maintenance of workstation equipment.
  • Assist with yearly examination/screening and ensure accurate charting on Military forms
  • Scan through the documentation to identify the Soldier’s required needs
  • Safeguard all patient information
  • Ensures all actions comply with HIPAA and other appropriate federal and state laws and regulations

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Active Dental Assistant certification (CDA, RDA, EDDA, EFDA)
  • CPR/BLS certification
  • A valid US driver’s license
  • Excellent customer service skills and experience interacting with difficult clientele
  • Utilization of universal precautions for patient care
  • 1+ years’ experience in a dental setting
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changes quickly
  • Ability to work for lengthy periods and perform accurately at an adequate speed
  • Must submit no less than two professional references with a resume

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Active Minnesota Dental Radiographer certification
  • Active DANB Certified Dental Assistant (CDA)
  • Familiarity with military dental documentation

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Occasionally required to stand

  • Continually required to talk or hear
  • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually loud
